all up

Install done, all the woodcuts, digital prints, drawings and a few paintings are on display at the Cactus Wheel.

I have to say it feels different to have so much of my personnel work on display after so long doing art for commercial projects.

Not such a good photo but here's a peek. I'll be posting more images here and on the Peter Grundy Fine Arts facebook page :

Change

Well its taken a while after stopping work on video games and traveling all over the country to finally get back to my roots. The barn is now a studio:

And I have started work on a new project. I have a show coming up on the 1st of Dec that will showcase the project. Its just a restaurant show but its the push I need to get things rolling.

I'll update the blog with times and location in the following weeks

New reference material

Been out of action as far as the blog is concerned. Been traveling for several months and undergoing some life changes. But have found and been directed at some great reference material and artists I never knew about. So I thought I'd share.

Lynd Ward - http://www.loa.org/volume.jsp?RequestID=337   thanks Chris for this introduction
Shepard Fairey - http://obeygiant.com/ thanks to Brian
Brad Klausen - http://www.artillerydesign.com/ whilst talking with friends about Eddie Vedder and researching Shepard Fairey

And finally Swoon again found whilst researching Shepard 's work. Amazing work.

Well, that's it for now except my renovated barn is only a week or two from becoming a real art studio and my time and focus will soon be dedicated to using the space in the manor in which I intended.

WOW

What a series of months. Bought a new house, renovated new house, new baby, moved house, quit job, wife started new business, refinished old house, started a new job etc etc...no time for art :(

did start a new project however with the wife, in an attempt to make more artistic/meaningful photos:

Forgot to mention I am trying to use only the iphone to take the picture, and edit within any apps. that way I can stay focused on the tonality, texture and composition and worry all the other things that go along with SLR. Maybe I'll start another project with the cannon, if I can ever get it back from the wife :)

Old Photo

Messed around with an old photo taken in Wales many years ago. I do like trying to reduce an image to just a few values

Well its New Year

Its been a long time since I posted. A lot going on with work and home. Still its New Year so I thought I should try to start it off right by finishing up a study I had from last year.

Good bye Dave and safe trip

Its not often you meet with, let alone work with someone who you think is amazingly talented and dedicated to their craft. Yesterday one of those folks departed our workplace. Dave Kang
worked at NetDevil for 3 years and it was a pleasure to have him as an employee and friend. Heres a little going away drawing in the hopes that he returns home safely. The character is one of Daves many creations, but this is how we feel at NetDevil after his departure.

Newel inspired technique

Had to do something with this photo of my daughter so I used it to sketch out and try this visual technique using a combo of my recent woodcuts and Newel style
